Novelis Opens Its Doors on Manufacturing Day

On October 5, Novelis joined more than 1,600 other manufacturers to celebrate National Manufacturing Day. This year, there is much to celebrate. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, manufacturers contributed $2.33 trillion to the U.S. economy in the first quarter of 2018. And for every $1.00 spent on manufacturing, another $1.89 is added to the economy by the multiplier effect. We are proud of the impact we have on local communities, including the many areas where Novelis operates.

As a Kentucky State Presenting Sponsor of Manufacturing Day, our Berea, Ky. facility opened its doors to host local students and community leaders. Employees offered guided facility tours and interactive information sessions focusing on recycling, STEM careers and women in manufacturing.

In addition, employees in Oswego, N.Y. participated in a Manufacturing Day expo with 400 students from the community. Employees led hands-on demonstrations showcasing the tools and equipment they use in their jobs every day.

Events like this are important for Novelis and for the manufacturing industry. According to Deloitte and the Manufacturing Institute, nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will likely be needed over the next decade, and 2 million are expected to go unfilled due to the skills gap. We are committed to exposing the next generation of manufacturers to the safe, innovative and rewarding career possibilities in aluminum recycling and manufacturing.
