The Atlanta-based company said the new line, which will recycle painted aluminum scrap, will be completed by the end of 2012, followed by a commissioning and ramp-up period. The line will include a double-chamber melting furnace, continuous casting line and related equipment and will run painted scrap generated at Novelis’ Italian operations, as well as other low-grade secondary aluminum from third-party sources.
